Why does my cat have diarrhoea?

Here are some of the more common causes of diarrhoea in cats:

◦ Diet – Too quick a change to a new food or eating something unusual outside can cause diarrhoea.

◦ Worms can cause diarrhoea in cats.

◦ Infections like Campylobacter, Salmonella and giardia. These can cause tummy upsets in people too.

◦ Foreign bodies - this means having eaten something they shouldn't have and it getting stuck! We often find cats with something stuck are vomiting as well, but not always!

Find out more about these problems and what we can do about them by reading our great fact sheet about diarrhoea and cats. Of course, please do not hesitate to contact us if you are worried.
