Head Veterinary Nurse (Perm, Full Time)

The Finchley Vet, High Road, North Finchley

Salary £42k pa

40 hours per week

We are not the perfect vet practice!!

That might be a funny way to start a job advert – but I want you to know that we are honest about our flaws.  In fact we are honest about everything.  That’s how we create a culture and working environment where people feel supported and heard.  Where clients feel listened to and that their concerns are addressed in a competent and compassionate way.

So many practices offer things they cannot deliver and that is not what you will get with us.  We are trying to grow and treat more and more pets, whilst remaining as true to our original aim as possible which is eventually to be the leaders for customer service amongst UK vet practice.  And if we look after our team, we tend to find they look after their clients.

Do we get it right all of the time?...No!

Do we aspire to be better every day?...Abolutely Yes!

We are currently looking for a Head Nurse to lead our small, but growing, nursing team (currently consisting of another RVN and an SVN and hopefully soon to include another VCA).  You will be organising the team, mentoring them so that they can complete their tasks in a competent, safe and efficient manner.  The team leaders from all of the teams meet weekly to ensure that all teams are aligned and that we can work together smoothly.  You will also be front and centre in hiring new members of your team and, with support, you will review CVs and interview candidates for new roles in your team.  Along with your management role (which you will be given plenty time for), you will still be involved in much regular clinical nursing work – from consultations to anaesthetics and beyond.

The current proposed schedule is Mon 11:00-19:30, Tues-Thurs 12:00-19:30, Fri 12:00-19:30, with an option to work every other Friday 8:30-16:00 instead (if wanted). Sat 1:3 (9:00-13:30).  But we are flexible and may be able to accommodate other desired hours.  We pay all of the hours of your shift – including your lunch breaks – but that doesn’t mean we expect you to work over lunch – infact we are militant about protecting lunch breaks for all of our team.

We very recently redeveloped the practice to add a large staff kitchen, staff room and shower and have plenty of space to accommodate our expanding team.  I would love to show you around so please let me know if you are interested.  I can be contacted at oli@thefinchleyvet.co.uk – feel free to email with any questions, or send me your CV, if you would like to apply.
