Because we are looking for someone special. We are looking for someone to join our client care team and we are very particular about who we want. Maybe it’s you…are you able to be relied upon to do a large range of different tasks to a high level and without a lot of micro management? Can you pick up new skills quickly and do you enjoy taking the initiative to explore and drive forward new projects and ideas? Can you organise a vibrant, fast moving and constantly evolving practice to ensure that the clients and clinical staff have what they need, when they need it. Most importantly, can you smile for clients even when you are having a long day, can you empathise with pet owners even when you disagree with them, can you discuss the cost of treatment, even when you may not have chosen that option yourself? If so, you would fit in very well indeed.
You will gain a huge amount of experience of practice management and administration. You will learn a lot about how a modern, growing veterinary practice can function as a business whilst at the same time, giving the best service to its clients and providing the best and most compassionate care for our pet patients. If you have never worked in a vet practice before – that’s OK too – we will teach you what you need to know.
We are a small team, but a great team. Our job means that not everyday is a laugh a minute, we share sad times as well as happy times, but we are about more than just working our lives away. We try to stagger our rotas to allow as much flexibility as possible and make sure that we have time to enjoy our lives, not just when its dark outside. We think that work should be fun and in the main, we enjoy working as a team and have summer and x-mas parties to try to spend time together outside of work. We also love our clients and of course even our wonderful clients can have a bad day, like everyone else, but generally we hold to our principles which means that the really difficult clients tend to go elsewhere, leaving us with just the nice ones.
Our brand spanking newly built and well-equipped practice has been open for almost 4 years. We have been growing at about 20% or more every year, gaining more and more great clients and doing more and more fascinating and really important work to keep our patients happy and healthy. We are now looking for another exceptional client care team member/ office manager to help us expand this dynamic and exciting practice in North Finchley.
The position will be very varied, with the successful candidates taking a role in all aspects of client care and communication and working with the rest of the team and the practice principal to ensure that the practice is fully stocked and running smoothly. This will involve some responsibility for stocking, ordering and providing support for the practice principal across many (non-clinical) areas. You will spend a lot of time interacting the clients. You will not be required to manage other people.
Your working week will be approx. 25 hours (there is some flexibility in this – depending on what suits you), covering shifts during our opening hours which are 8:30am-7:30pm Mon-Fri, 9am-1:30pm Sat. Currently there is a 1:2 Saturday mornings rota and no Out Of Hours requirement.
Previous experience of working in a vet practice is not essential, however willingness to get your hands dirty, literally, and sensational customer care skills are vital. You should have good computer literacy, as we work with various IT systems.
The role will also entitle you to 20+ days holiday (pro-rata for part time) and a staff discount.
